The plumbskill centre was started in 2003 and were the pioneers of private plumbing course training in the uk. Good plumbers will always be in great demand, probably more than any other building trade. Most plumbing problems in people’s homes need to be fixed straightaway to avoid damage to property, keep all the appliances working and keep the central heating working correctly.

Within half an hour of starting the course, you will be soldering copper pipes to industry standards, and by the fourth day you will have completed your first project consisting of the installation of a cold water storage tank, hot water cylinder, complete bathroom suite with a shower and the central heating system. It may seem unbelievable, but its true.

It is hard, physical work, but we have made it as realistic as possible so you will know what to expect when doing it for real.

Your NVQ portfolio of evidence work sheets are "written up" every day to use for your chosen qualification route.

Even in times of recession plumbers will always be busy.

The courses that we run will enable anyone, male or female,to achieve a complete career change, compliment other building trades or even your own private projects.

The plumbing and heating courses at The Plumbskill Centre are all hands on, practical [actually doing it] with theory lectures to a bare minimum as we truly believe that actually doing it in a realistic plumbing workshop environment to be the best way to learn this lucrative skill.

We do not believe that plumbing skills can be learnt from reading books alone, hands on tuition is a must. Theory is important, but we believe the first stages of your training is to complete a practical course that will also teach you a great amount of theory and with possibly 2 of the best NVQ plumbing books on the market that you can purchase is all that you need to start you on your way to becoming a competent plumber

To compliment your training, every student receives an NVQ portfolio of evidence folder that contains a great deal of plumbing theory and more importantly, job report forms that are written up by the student on all aspects of their training. We also advise the taking of photographs of all projects undertaken to make up the portfolio.

This portfolio can then be used as the first stages of your qualification route.

We run 2 courses.....a domestic only plumbing course and the more popular plumbing & heating course that now includes increasingly popular solar heating training.

Course duration does vary on individual students abilities. The course cost pays for the course as set out on the course syllabus and not on the length of time that you attend. The domestic plumbing course is normally about 5 days with the plumbing and heating 9 or 10 days.

We are open 7 days a week, with the start of the courses on Saturdays or Mondays.

Feedback from potential students in the past have realised that a lot of people were finding it difficult to take 2 weeks out of their work schedules so unable to take our course. There are now 2 options. Start the course on a Saturday and attend the course every day until completion the following weekend, or start on a Monday through to Friday and return the following Monday until completion.

The starting Saturday option has started to prove popular and can also benefit the self employed as they only lose 1 weeks wages.
